Big Opening Night!!

Thanks to Elmer Presslee, who had the foresight to bring a camera to the opening of Present Tense: A Post-337 Project. The art was fantastic, the crowd was enormous. The shuttle bus was as good as a shuttle bus can be. The whole night was a huge success with many of the guests staying for the entire three-hour event. If you didn't get a chance to stop by for the opening, the show will be at the Salt Lake Art Center until September 27, 2008. But don't wait til the last minute because I promise you will want to see the show more than once.

337 Project, The Demolition

Okay, last post for the night and then I think I'm caught up. The demolition of the 337 Project building occurred on April 5, 2008 (yes, yes, just a little bit behind schedule). See the whole thing in 18 seconds, courtesy of Davey Davis at The Dada Factory.

Present Tense: A Post 337 Project

Whatever you do, don't miss the opening celebration for Present Tense: A Post 337 Project at the Salt Lake Art Center on June 20, 2008, from 6-9 pm. The show features new work by 25 of the artists from the original 337 Project building, as well as documentary photographs by Lewis Francis. I can promise you the show is going to be unbelievably fantastic! So come to the Salt Lake Art Center at 20 S. W. Temple, or catch the free shuttle bus from Nobrow Coffee and Tea (315 E. 300 S.).

Afterimage: The Art of 337

Afterimage: The Art of 337 is the new documentary film about the 337 Project. A labor of love for its creators, Alex Haworth and Davey Davis, Afterimage is the definitive record of the 337 Project. You can read an in-depth review of Afterimage here, or visit the website of Haworth and Davis to learn more.

Afterimage will play at the Salt Lake Art Center again on Friday June 20 at 7:30 pm (I think) and on Saturday, June 21, at 4:00 pm (definitely). A DVD of the documentary film, containing bonus art footage not included in the theatrical release, will be available for sale for $15 at the Salt Lake Art Center and other local merchants.

Opening Night, May 25, 2007

It has been over a year now since the 337 Project opened to the public. And as we get ready for our next round of events, it seemed like a good time to stop and look back at the hoopla we left behind. If you missed the opening night of the 337 Project last year, here's a short video, courtesy of Trent Call.
