Big Opening Night!!

Thanks to Elmer Presslee, who had the foresight to bring a camera to the opening of Present Tense: A Post-337 Project. The art was fantastic, the crowd was enormous. The shuttle bus was as good as a shuttle bus can be. The whole night was a huge success with many of the guests staying for the entire three-hour event. If you didn't get a chance to stop by for the opening, the show will be at the Salt Lake Art Center until September 27, 2008. But don't wait til the last minute because I promise you will want to see the show more than once.

There was a great moment in shuttle-land.

The extended art montage from the documentary was playing on loop on one of the shuttles, set to a soundtrack of local bands. Chaz Primek, one of the musicians whose work was included on the soundtrack, rode the bus with his friends, and unwittingly heard his stuff in conjunction with the art for the first time.

It made him so happy, it was great!

If there is enough interest, I'd love to organize an event where art from the 337 building (and also "Present Tense"?) is projected silently while some local bands play music. Sort of like the pianos that used to accompany silent films . . . . Maybe Chaz and others would be game?
